TOP PLACING IMAGES IN THE 2017 SHOOT AND SHARE PHOTO CONTEST

For the second consecutive year I decided to enter 50 of my favorite images into the Shoot and Share Photo Contest. I am always nervous to enter my work into contests, but I believe that holding myself accountable in such a way provides me with the motivation to grow and always get better as a photographer. It also gives me an opportunity to look back at my work from the previous year and reflect.

This contest is one that I love because the winning images are chosen by blind voting (no photographer information is attached to the images until the end). Instead of being a popularity contest by who can rally the most supporters, it is a level playing field where photos are chosen based on merit and photographers of all skill levels can enter their work.

I was happily surprised at the end to learn that I had three images place in the top ranks for their categories, so I wanted to share those images with you!

This image of Sianna and Sage scored in the top 20% for its category - Children: Babies & Toddlers! Click here to see more images of these beautiful children! And I just gave a print of this image to HeartSpace Midwifery, so look for it next time you are there.
