They say that rain on your wedding day is lucky. Well, how about the first snowfall of the season? In October? That’s how the day began as I drove to the hotel to photograph Kristen and Matt as they prepared for their wedding! It was probably the coldest day of the season at that point, but these two were super brave and willing to be outside with me in order to make some gorgeous portraits. Unfortunately their ceremony had to be moved indoors because of the weather, but they made the most of it!

The entire day had a laid back feel that can only be accomplished when events have been carefully planned and prepared for, which was evidenced not only by everyone’s happiness and readiness to be flexible, but also in the beautiful details that embellished the Ski Lodge. My favorite part had to be the guestbook, though. Kristen and I discovered photography together as friends in high school and received our first cameras at just about the same time, so it made perfect sense to me that she chose to create a guestbook out of instant photos! The guests had a great time using the instant camera throughout the entire reception, not just for selfies, but also to capture special moments like Kristen and Matt’s first dance. I’m certain their guestbook is something they will cherish forever.

I’m so grateful that I, yet again, was honored with the responsibility to photograph a long-time friend’s wedding. I wish Kristen and Matt all the love in the world as they continue on their journey together!
